GCM requires a
TCP/IP connection via LAN or Internet between the server and client machines.
To quickly install GCM Software please follow these steps:
1. Choose a
machine to act as the server (Front Desk Computer), and download then
install the Golden Cafe Manager Server software.
2.
Start the GCM Server software.
3. On
all other machines, download and install the GCM Client software.
3a. During the GCM Client
installation, you will be asked to enter the server's (where GCM Server is
running) IP address or its Network
Name.
3b. After server's IP, you will need to enter the
ordinal number of the workstation on which GCM Client is now being installed. This number will be used
in the GCM Server's main table.
4. The Client will try to connect to
the server; as soon as the connection is established, that's it, your
installation is complete!
Important: When you start GCM Client, you will be asked whether
you want to
automatically startup GCM Client when Windows starts. If you answer
"Yes", the computer will be rebooted, and GCM Client will run as Windows
shell.
If you have both GCM Server and Client installed on the same computer, choose
"No".
In order to remove GCM Client from startup, you need to enter an administrator's password
and use the menu that will be displayed.
Then you can set up all settings and prices in GCM Server.
If you need help with
specifying rates click here.
For a complete documentation please read the Server
online manual and Client
online manual. Or download
the complete User Manual in the printable format.
Note:
If you are running any type of
firewall software, you need to allow GCM to communicate through the firewall. GCM
Server uses TCP/IP ports 12997 through 12999. GCM Clients use TCP/IP ports
automatically assigned by Windows.
If you don't have a firewall but want to install one, we recommend using Outpost
Firewall. It is an excellent free firewall that creates filters for
each particular application and does not require specifying any ports.
