No. Antivirus software does not cause any slowdowns or any other problems with GCM Software. You can use any antivirus programs along with GCM.

Authorization Codes - How long does it take?

As soon as you complete an order, we will send you the license key within a couple of hours.

Available Programs - How do I set up the list of programs available to run on the workstation?

In the Control Panel of GCM Server (that can be open by clicking on this button: ) click on the 'Available programs' button. There you can specify programs' names and paths to their launching files. As soon as you make the changes the list of programs will be uploaded on all client machines within 10 minutes. It is very convenient because you do not have to configure each client seperately.

Credit Card Payments - Which credit cards do you accept?

Since we use Share it! for our online orders we accept all major credit cards. We also accept bank transfers, checks and cash.
We also accept all major currencies.

Currency Settings - How do I change the currency sign?

By default the currency sign that will be displayed is the same that is set in your "Windows Control Panel - Regional Settings" on the server computer. If you want to change it, on the Control Panel of GCM Server click on 'Pricing policy' and there on 'Other settings.' Click on the tab 'Rounding up and currency sign' and change the currency. As soon as you do it, GCM Clients will automatically receive the information about the new currency.

Dynamic IP Address on the Server

Can I Use A Dynamic IP Address?

Yes, you can.
If your network uses a 'Dynamic IP' then all you need to do is:
During the installation of GCM Clients, enter the 'Network Name' of the server instead of its IP Address.

Firewall - How can I make my firewall compatible with GCM?

If you are running any type of firewall software, you need to allow GCM to communicate through the firewall. GCM Server uses TCP/IP ports 12997 through 12999. GCM Clients use TCP/IP ports automatically assigned by Windows.

If you don't have a firewall but want to install one, we recommend using Outpost Firewall. It is an excellent free firewall that creates filters for each particular application and does not require specifying any ports.

Info boxes
and hints in GCM Server - How can I close them?

Machine ID? - Where is it?

In order to get your Machine ID, you need to press the 'Registration' button on the Control Panel of GCM Server. Machine ID is located at the bottom of the open window. Press 'Copy' to copy it to the clipboard. Make sure to do this operation on your server computer. The license key will work only on the computer whose Machine ID you will provide us with.

Power Button - Power button related issues.

The power button of a computer is exposed to the customer. It will be a very good idea to disable it to make sure that a customer does not press it causing the computer to go into 'stand by' mode or hibernate. A customer can do it without knowing the consequences and will not be able to enable the computer again. Obviously after that the administrator will have to spend time on it.

To adjust the power button options (it cannot be done automatically by GCM) go to the Windows Control Panel, there click on 'Power Options' and choose the 'Advanced' tab. It can only be done in Windows 2000/XP.

Pricing Modes - Postpaid and Prepaid.

1) Postpaid mode - administrator simply locates an available to use computer, selects it and presses the 'Postpaid session' button. The session immediately starts. Either the customer or the administrator can end the session whenever they want.

2) Prepaid mode consists of three different modes:

a) Immediate prepaid session - administrator opens a prepaid session, which immediately starts on the workstation. This is an extremely easy to use mode.

b) Timecode mode - timecodes are generated on the server and sold to the customers. The customers can then enter the timecode into any computer and start using it. Once the time is used up, the GCM Client ends the session and displays the Protection mask. If the user ends the session and still has time on the timecode, the timecode can still be used until no time remains on it.

c) Prepaid Account mode - prepaid accounts are generated on the the server and sold to the customers. The difference from the timecode mode is that prepaid accounts have money instead of time on them. It has the following benefits:

  • You can have different rates for different periods of the day/week
  • You can increase/decrease your prices after an account is sold

A prepaid account has a Login & Password. A timecode only a Login.

In the 'Pricing policy' window, you can specify rates for all the pricing modes except timecodes, which have their own pricing policy window.

Screen Savers - what would you recommend?

Screen savers used to do what their name implies for old models of monitors. For modern ones they are no longer so important. So it is totally up to you whether you want to use them or not. However, it is very important to realize that good looking screen savers with complicated animation use a lot of computer's resources. So it would be a good idea to turn off the monitor and hard disk after a certain period of time.

We recommend to set your machines to do the following:

10 minutes of inactivity activates the Screen Saver
15 minutes of inactivity turns off the Monitor
30 minutes of Inactivity turns off the Hard Disk
40 minutes of inactivity puts the computer in Standby Mode.

By doing it, you will not only save energy but also keep your devices in good condition for extended period of time.

Or you can enable the option 'Client computers automatic shutdown' on the Control Panel of GCM Server. It will shut the machines down after 15 minutes of being locked (without a time session).

System Security Settings - Where do I configure the security settings?

On the Control Panel of GCM Server in the tab 'Client settings' you can disable the usage of Windows Task Manager on the client workstations. In the tab 'Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger settings' you can configure the settings of IE and MSN for client workstations. If you decide to uninstall the software, all the settings will be changed back to their original condition.

Upgrade of License - What are the rates?

If you want to increase the number of stations and upgrade the license, the charge will be the price of the new license minus the amount already paid. For example, if you want to make an upgrade from 5 to 10 clients, the charge will be $319 - $239 = $80.
Please contact us concerning the upgrade.
