GCM Client Manual for v3.7

1. Getting started: installation of GCM Client
2. Client's main window
3. Prepaid accounts: introduction
4. Account history and settings
5. Menu opened by administrator's password

Installation of Golden Cafe Manager Client

1. Server's IP Address or its Network Name. The word "Server's" implies the computer where GCM Server is installed.
If you are trying the Demo version at home, enter '127.0.0.1' - local host IP address and run GCM Server and Client on the same computer.

2. Ordinal number. This number corresponds to the row's number in the column 'PC' of the server's main table. This row will be used to control the station. The ordinal number is also used as a default PC name of the station, which can be changed in the 'PC groups' window.

3. When GCM Client starts, it will display a question about automatic startup of the Client. If you choose 'Yes', Client will be used as Windows shell instead of Explorer. You will be able to change everything back by choosing 'Remove GCM Client from automatic startup' in the menu opened by administrator's password.

Client's main window
When inactive, the Client is locked with the protection mask. There is no activity that can be done until:
(1) an employee starts a postpaid or immediate prepaid session on that station, or
(2) a customer enters a timecode
(3) a customer enters prepaid account login and password.

Then Server starts a session on this station and the mask is removed.
As soon as a session starts, Client's main window appears on the screen. It displays the time elapsed or the remaining prepaid time and the charge for that. It also displays the icons of applications specified in the "Available programs" window of GCM Server.

Prepaid accounts

If a customer logs into his or her account, the following window appears:
There are three possible ways of opening a time session:

1. 'Pay-per-minute.' If a customer chooses this mode, the prepaid account is being charged continuously during the time of the computer usage.

2. In order to open a session using 'Enter a period of time' mode, a customer needs to enter the number of hours and minutes (e.g. 1:39) he or she wants to use the workstation. Then the program automatically calculates and displays the session's price.

3. In order to open a session using 'Open a time session till' mode, a customer needs to enter a moment of time (e.g. 5:35p). GCM Client automatically calculates and displays the session's price until that moment. The software accepts 'PM', 'pm' and 'p'. The same thing applies to 'AM'.

Account history and settings

'Account history and settings' button opens the following window:
In the report, 'Spent' means the amount of money that the person spent using his or her account.

'Change user name' is used to change the user's name. This name is used to welcome customers in the account's main window.

'Change password' is used to change the account's password.

Accounts' passwords can be reset in the "Prepaid accounts" window of GCM Server.

Menu opened by administrator's password

An administrator's password opens a menu that can be used to close, restart GCM Client or remove it from automatic startup, which means resetting Windows shell back to Explorer. It also allows launching computer programs.

If GCM Client is closed using this menu, the computer will not be automatically rebooted. Otherwise the computer will be immediately rebooted after GCM Client is closed using Task Manager.

To enter these passwords that are specified in the "Staff accounts" window, double click on the gray key of the protection mask, or if a time session is open, on the clock with the current time. After entering a correct password, GCM Client opens a special menu. This event is recorded into the financial report with the login name of the employee whose password was used.
The open menu is shown on the picture.

'Launch a program' allows to run any computer application. After clicking on 'Other...', you can enter a path to the .exe file of the program that you want to run.

We hope you've found the information provided above complete and useful; however, if you have any questions feel free to write us at support@gcmnow.com We will answer your inquiries in a few hours.
